The Indo-Swiss Traning Centre (ISTC) was established in the year 1963 in collaboration with the Swiss Foundation for Technical Assistance, Switzerland. It was formally inaugurated on 18th December, 1963 by the first Prime Minister of India, the late Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru. ISTC started with a 3-year course “Diploma in Instrument Technology”.  With the passage of time, new courses were added to keep pace with the changing industrial requirements. In 1973 “Post Diploma Course in Industrial Electronics” was added. In 1977, another course “Advanced Diploma in Die and Mould Making” was started. Both the courses were established with the help of Swiss Foundation. In 1996 the course was upgraded to “Advanced Diploma in  Mechatronics and Industrial Automation”. Following the practice of keeping the training updated, as per the need of modern industry, an ambitious Modernisation Plan was taken up in 2009. Hostels and Labs are renovated and a new workshop building is constructed.
